Jeff, thanks for these posts on the topic of nudity and Arab and Islamic women. I was reading this one outloud to Martin (with the movie "The Scarlet Pimpernel" on tv in the background) and at some point my daughter woke up and said, "Who wrote that?"
The power of words, and female nudity!
I'd love to think these courageous women can change things for themselves and their societies, and I am reminded of the young high school women I sat next to on a bush in India, wearing full length black and black hearscarves and veils. The veils were just touching the bottom lid of the eye, and the young woman constanting pulling it away from her eyelids. I wanted to just go rip it off of her face, but my friend Ray, sitting next to me sterning said, "You'd better not!"
